Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has finally revealed the position that best suits Kai Havertz as the German continues to blend into the team after his summer move.

Kai Havertz joined Chelsea in the summer from Bayern Leverkusen for a fee reportedly worth £71million and have been under the spotlight for his performance over the past few weeks.

The 21-year-old was singled out during Chelsea’s defeat to Wolves on Wednesday night and Lampard has been forced to reveal his preferred position on the pitch.

Speaking about where the German International is better on the pitch, Lampard stressed that Kai Havertz does suit a 4-3-3 formation, explaining that he was playing well as a box-to-box midfielder before he was forced to have a period of isolation.

Chelsea boss noted that before Covid he was playing very well as the right-sided eight but consistency is sometimes a good thing and that’s what he want to get from him whenever the formation is being played.

Hakim Ziyech and wingers Callum Hudson-Odoi both sidelined recently with injury, Chelsea boss Lampard has had to find solutions in the wide areas.

Kai Havertz has been deployed in the wing for the past two games and Chelsea fans will be hoping he plays at his preferred position when the Blues take on West Ham United on Monday night.
