Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has tipped former Manchester City star Cole Palmer to have a great career at Stamford Bridge.

According to Carrick, Palmer is down to earth and a quality player.

The Middlesbrough boss made this known after Palmer’s impressive outing in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg 6-1 win against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after the game, Carrick singled out Palmer for praise, telling Radio 5 Live (Mirror):

“He is a real talent. Nice lad as well. Down to earth, and you can see that when you come up against him, he will go on to have a great career. It is not nice when you are on the end of it but we can appreciate and respect how good he is.”

Chelsea now stand a chance of ending the season with a trophy under their new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
