Former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia has criticised England manager Gareth Southgate for the decision he made during Euro 2020 final.

England were defeated on penalties by Italy after both teams played out a one-nil draw after extra time.

However, fans were stunned when Gareth Southgate decided to Liverpool captain remove Jordan Henderson from the field of play just minutes before the final whistle.

Manchester United’s Marcos Rashford came on in place of Henderson, but the star forward couldn’t convert his penalty.

Jadon Sancho, who was also called on from the bench in the dying minute of the match, also missed his penalty, a move Garcia is not pleased with.

Garcia, who couldn’t hide his frustrations, took to Twitter to suggest that Henderson should have been one of the five players to take a penalty against Italy, citing the midfielder’s age and experience.

Garcia asked if 23/21/19 years old lads are the experts needed to take a penalty in such an intense moment.

Arsenal star forward Bukayo Saka also missed the spot, with some fans insisting Henderson would have converted from the spot rather than the young lad.
