Former Chelsea star announces departure from Old Trafford

Man Utd star Juan Mata has announced he would be leaving Old Trafford once his contract with the club end this summer.

The report was confirmed by Man United in a statement via its website on Thursday morning.

Mata’s decision to leave Old Trafford came less than 24 hours after Man United confirmed Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard’s exit from Old Trafford.

Mata, 34, moved to Old Trafford in January 2014 and went on to play 285 games, scoring 51 goals and winning four trophies.

The Spanish midfielder made his final appearance for Man United in their Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2021/22 season.

This latest development means Man Utd’s new manager Erik Ten Hag will have to sign some new midfielders to replace those leaving the club this summer.

Ten Hag is expected to bring the needed change back to Old Trafford as they hope to compete in the EPL next season.
