Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has lashed out at Frank Lampard’s team set-up in their defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Manchester City who were without five of their first team players defeated Chelsea 3-1 to ensure that the Blues are still with just one win in six Premier League games.

Chelsea performance have raised eyebrows from football fans and pundits and Leboeuf has insisted that Frank Lampard was under pressure to play Timo Werner in a central role despite his poor run of form.

Timo Werner has failed to find the back of the net in 11 consecutive matches before the match against City and his woes continued against City.

Leboeuf who once played for Chelsea stated that Oliver Giroud should have been given some minute during the match as this would have changed the game.

Speaking with ESPN FC, the former Blues defender said with what he saw, he thought Giroud or Abraham would come on.

He noted that he thinks Frank Lampard put Werner as a striker because people were complaining that Werner wasn’t playing in his real position and they thought it was why he hasn’t been good lately.
