Former Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly turned down an opportunity to get back on the pitch as he rejects an offer from Marseille.

Marseille are currently on the hunt for a new manager after temporarily suspending Andre Villas-Boas who was once a Chelsea manager on Tuesday.

Andre Villas-Boas who had a short spell at Chelsea was suspended after he openly criticised the club’s signing of Olivier Ntcham from Celtic.

He went as far as tendering his resignation to the board as the Portuguese insisted that he does not want their money.

The French Ligue 1 side are now ready to bring in a new manager with Sarri being identified as a suitable candidate.

However, Sarri whose last job was at Juventus turned down Marseille initial approach.

According to Sky Italia, the 62-year-old is only considering a return to management in the summer and not halfway through the season.

With Sarri already showing the world how good he is with spells at Napoli, Juventus and Chelsea, Marseille are thinking of making a second approach for the Italian.

If Sarri eventually joins Marseille, he will.be reuniting with Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik who he worked with at Napoli from 2016 to 2018
