Former Chelsea manager reacts as Mane moves to Saudi

Former Chelsea and current Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has reacted to Sadio Mane’s move away from the German Bundesliga to Saudi Pro League this summer transfer window.

It is no longer news, Mane is close to leaving Bayern Munich to join former Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.

The Senegal international joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool last year but failed to impress in his debut season in Germany, scoring just 12 goals in 38 games.

In a statement with the press ahead of Bayern’s pre-season game with Liverpool on Wednesday, Tuchel admitted that neither he nor Mane were pleased with the way the player’s time in Germany has come to an end, adding it was the best situation for both parties.

“We had a big hug,” Tuchel said. “We agreed that we don’t like what is happening now but that it is the best in this situation.

“I totally understand that he feels hurt. I also don’t feel happy. We did not bring it to its full potential, which is my responsibility.”
