Former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has backed Frank Lampard to stay at Stamford Bridge for as long as possible despite the club bad form in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard’s future at Chelsea has been under the spotlight for the past few weeks as they’ve not been able to grind in positive results.

Chelsea are currently stuck in ninth place as they are eleven points off the top spot currently held by Manchester United and this has got some fans calling for Frank Lampard’s sack.

However, Guss Hiddink while speaking with the Mirror stated that Lampard is a very honest and direct person.

Hiddink who managed Lampard during his playing career noted that he was such a big player for Chelsea, but he needs to understand that what he did as a player counts for very little when he becomes a manager.

Concerning his future, Hiddink insisted that he does not see the Blues manager panicking in this situation as he’s a very stable person who believes totally in himself.

He added that while working with Lampard, he recognised very quickly that he had a player who had all the qualities to go on to become a top coach.

Hiddink who managed only 22 games of Frank Lampard’s glittering career noted that
off the pitch, the English trainer is a good person; on the pitch, he was always one of the most intelligent players.
