With a few days to the start of the winter transfer window in January, Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai continues to be linked with Chelsea.

In a recent statement, a former Chelsea defender, William Gallas, has predicted Szalai’s fate at Stamford Bridge.

According to Gallas, Szalai will improve himself at Stamford Bridge once he eventually joins the Blues next year.

It is believed that the Hungarian international is considered to be the Blues backup plan should Antonio Rudiger eventually leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

Speaking on the development, Gallas, a youth coach in Hungary with MTK, backed the 23-year-old to succeed at Thomas Tuchel’s side.

“Szalai is a strong and fast player,” Gallas was quoted by Tribal Football as saying.

“In my opinion, he is the best player in the Hungarian national team. Even Chelsea following him is a very good development.

“He can improve himself even more by going there and playing with defenders around the world.

“Every match is very tough in England. However, I was not afraid of this, and Attila is not afraid either.”

Chelsea are yet to confirm interest in the Hungarian defender.
