Former Chelsea coach, Paul Clement has hailed 36-year-old center back defender, Thiago Silva over his impressive performance at Stamford Bridge.

Silva has turned out be Chelsea’s key player at the back as he has helped them improved on their weak defence from last season.

The experienced defender has also rubbed off Kurt Zouma and both have become a perfect combination at Chelsea.

With the presence of Silva at Stamford Bridge this season, Chelsea have had the most clean sheets in the Premier League and they are now seen as a serious contender, seated at the top four in the EPL table.

For this season, Clement has hailed Silva as he revealed that coach Frank Lampard text him for advice before signing the world-class defender and he is happy he was signed.

“I had a brief text exchange with Frank about him and I shared my opinion and I am glad he took him and that it has worked out up until this point,” Clement told Goal.

The former Blues coach went on to recount his experience working with Silva at French club, PSG.

Clement disclosed that the Brazil star was 27 when he joined the French side and was a big signing at that time.

“For PSG to sign a major player at an amazing age from Milan at that time was a big coup. He was at the peak of his powers,” he said.

Clement stated that Silva is a good player with the ball at his feet as he is quick and athletic.

The 36-year-old is expected to return to action on Saturday when Chelsea meet Everton in the Premier League.
