Euro2020: Denmark-Finland match suspended after Eriksen falls on the pitch
The Inter midfielder went to ground during the match with Finland in Copenhagen, prompting immediate concern
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen fell on the field during his nation’s initial Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen.
The Inter Milan star went down during the initial half of the Group B match and required extensive medical attention on the pitch.
Christian Eriksen teammates and supporters in the ground were visbly troubled during what seemed, by all accounts, to be a serious medical circumstance.
Play stopped just before half-time as Eriksen, with no players around him, dropped to the ground.
Ref Anthony Taylor quickly blew his whistle and stopped procedures. Denmark and Finland promptly required the medical staff, who rushed onto the pitch to administer treatment.
Christian Eriksen teammates formed a shield around him as the doctors gave treatment, before white sheets were held up around him to give privacy.
UEFA affirmed the match has been suspended.
