Euro 2024: England coach warns Rashford
England coach Gareth Southgate has issued warming to Marcus Rashford ahead of their friendly matches.
Southgate stated that Rashford has to ‘battle’ and work hard to secure his place in the squad for the Euro 2024 tournament.
According to Southgate, Rashford has stiff competition from rising stars such as Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, and must continue to impress consistently.
This season has been challenging for Rashford, who has only scored seven goals in 34 appearances for Manchester United.
Despite this, the Red Devils star has still been included in England’s latest 25-man squad for the warm-up friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
The Three Lions manager also expressed his confidence in Rashford’s ability and expects him to raise his performance ahead of the Euros.
“He has a battle on his hands with Gordon, with Palmer, with Foden, so we’ve got big competition for places in that area,” Southgate said as quoted by Metro UK.
