Chelsea star and England international Callum Hudson-Odoi has been blamed for failing to convert a second goal for the Blues during their 1-1 clash vs Brighton on Wednesday night.

This is according to former Chelsea stars Gus Poyet and Eniola Aluko, who slammed Hudson-Odoi for his inability to score a second goal which was clearly a significant moment in the match.

After Lukaku had scored the lead goal for Chelsea in the first half, Hudson-Odoi had a chance to score a second goal in the second half.

The England international got a ball from Lukaku and moved towards Brighton goal with Mason Mount yelling for the ball.

Hudson-Odoi, who also had the clear chance to shoot on goal, tried to find Mount in the box but gave a very poor pass intercepted by a Brighton defender, thus losing the chances.

Danny Welbeck would go on to score an equaliser for the Seagulls towards the end of the match.

“At this level you’ve got to be better,” former Chelsea forward Aluko told Amazon Prime.

“It’s a 2 v 1 situation, maybe he needs to release it quicker. But you’ve got to make that pass, you have to make that pass.

”That’s the difference potentially between winning the game and getting a sickening equalizer at the end and drawing the game.”

Poyet added, “I’m surprised Hudson-Odoi needed to pass. It’s not like he tried to pass over the defender or around him.

“He hit the defender straight away. That’s very strange. Normally you miss that pass in behind because the other player is too far ahead of you or you try to play it too cleverly.

“He didn’t do one or the other. He just hit the defender. Very strange.”
