Chelsea will return to action in their final game of the season on Sunday when they face Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Blues head to the match after an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Man Utd.

Ahead of their game against the Magpies, Lampard gave a team update as he confirmed the duo of Reece James and Mason Mount wouldn’t be available.

‘Reece won’t be fit and Mason is going to be really tight,’ Lampard responded. ‘Reece came out [at training] on Wednesday and he went back in. He had a little bit of an awareness but we hope the scan says there is no real damage. It is probably just a little reminder that it is a bit too early to be out.’

Lampard also spoke on the chances of Carney Chukwuemeka playing against Newcastle.

Chukwuemeka was used as a substitute during the game at Manchester City.

Despite ending up on the losing side at Old Trafford, the 19-year-old received his coach’s praise.

Lampard could also give the Blues caption Cesar Azpilicueta a chance to start against the Magpies.
