EPL: Aston Villa to be without coach vs Chelsea

Ahead of the Sunday clash in the English Premier League between Chelsea and Aston Villa, the latest reports have revealed that coach Steven Gerrard will be unavailable for the match.

This comes as Gerrard has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus and, as such, will be unavailable to lead the Aston Villa squad vs Chelsea.

The club confirmed this latest update on Saturday.

“Aston Villa can confirm head coach Steven Gerrard will be unable to attend our next two Premier League matches with Chelsea and Leeds United as he will be isolating after testing positive for Covid-19,” the club said in a statement.

Recall that Aston Villa’s match with Burnley last weekend was postponed due to an increased number of positive Covid-19 tests among the squad.

The match between Chelsea and Aston Villa is one of the six games scheduled to hold this weekend.

This could give Chelsea an edge to win all three points vs Aston Villa today.

Currently, Chelsea are seated at the 3rd spot on the league table behind Liverpool and Man City.
