EFL: Chelsea handed injury boost Vs Barrow
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca in a recent update announced the return of Malo Gusto to the team.
Maresca revealed Gusto could get a chance to play for the Blues when the face Barrow in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
Recall that Gusto was made to get off in the second half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace due to a muscle problem.
This kept him on the sidelines as he missed the Blues’ last two matches in the Premier League against Bournemouth and West Ham.
The right-back, who pulled some impressive performance in Reece James’ absence last season, has stepped up his rehabilitation in recent days and is fit and available to start on Tuesday when the Blues host Barrow at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca in a pre-match statement, however, added that the Blues’ central midfielder Romeo Lavia and club captain James remain on the sideline with hamstring injuries and will play no part against Chelsea’s League Two opposition tomorrow.
The manager is, however, hopeful Lavia could recover in time for the Blues next match in the Premier League at home to Brighton this weekend.
‘Malo is available for tomorrow,’ Maresca said in his press conference on Monday afternoon.
