Despite defeat to Tottenham, Potter has Chelsea’s hierarchy backing
Chelsea owners have remained solidly behind their manager Graham Potter despite the disappointing 2-0 defeat to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
While Potter had already been under intense pressure before the weekend game, there have been speculations that another defeat, will likely only lead to more calls for him to be sacked.
Unlike their last two defeats, in which they were the better team, Tottenham won comfortably on Sunday.
However, despite the outcome of the match, CBS Sports’ Jacobs, Potter’s job remains safe for now.
“Understand Chelsea’s owners retain their faith and patience in Graham Potter,” Jacobs wrote on Twitter.
“There are no plans to sack the Chelsea manager tonight.”
While the Blues remain at their current spot on the league table, they will now have to focus on their next match against Leeds United.
