Chelsea ace defender Thiago Silva has sent a message to the club’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino as he expressed his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge.

A report via the Evening Standard revealed the Brazil star has informed Pochettino that he fully intends to stay at the West London club and help with the rebuild process.

This comes days after Silva won Chelsea’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Following the Blues’ poor season which saw them finish at the 12th spot on the league table and no Champions League games next season, they have no other option than to cut down their squad.

Aside from trying to raise money to sign new players for their new manager, Chelsea need to stay clear from breaking the Financial Fair Play rule.

To solve this, Chelsea have to sell at least 12 of their players this summer.

Even though Silva, 39, is not one of those heavily linked with a transfer, there is interest in the veteran defender from his native Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

With seven senior centre-backs on Chelsea’s books, Pochettino needs to let go of at least two of them, and he could be tempted to sell Silva, whose contract expires in 2024, given his age.
