Atletico Madrid defender wants to play under Frank Lampard, Bayer Leverkusen playmaker move almost done

Chelsea may have been given a lift in their quest for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez after he conceded he ‘cherishes’ the club.

Frank Lampard is in the market for another defender this summer to help tackle his side’s cracked barrier, with West Ham’s Declan Rice thought to be their top target.

However, with the West Ham United getting down to business over any deal for Declan Rice and requesting a fee of around £80m, the Blues might be compelled to look somewhere else this summer.

Jose Gimenez is on their radar as an expected extension and he has been broadly explored by Chelsea bosses.

Also, it appears as though he would be available to a move.

Jose Gimenez uncovered he upheld Chelsea as a youngster and that he needed to play under the present manager Frank Lampard.

He said in a meeting with La Liga: I would have jumped at the chance to play under Frank Lampard.
