The Blues have affirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract.

Kai Havertz was connected to some of Europe’s top clubs lately, but the west London club have now won the race for his signature in a deal which is believed to be around £70m.

The 21-year-old left his national team’s training camp earlier today to go through a medical and conclude a move, signing a deal which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2025.

It is a dream come through to play in a major club like Chelsea, I am happy and proud to be here and I can hardly wait to meet all the players and the trainers. Better believe it, I am exceptionally happy to be here! Havertz told the club’s official website.

Marina Granovskaia included: Kai Havertz is perhaps the best player of his age in world football, so we are extremely happy that his future lies at Chelsea.

He has demonstrated pedigree in perhaps the best  league in Europe, he plays for the German national side and he is an exciting, unique talent.

We are delighted to have the option to add his versatility and quality to the squad before the season starts.
