Deal CLOSE: Premier League club close to completing a deal for former Chelsea defender

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic want to sign ex-Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, and he’s certain the deal could even be completed soon.

Branislav Ivanovic can play at right-back or as a central defender, is a free agent after leaving Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in the summer.

The 36-year-old has a lot of experience in the Premier League experience and he will be fine signing to the recently promoted Baggies, having won the title multiple times with Chelsea, for whom he made many appearances over nine years at Stamford Bridge.

The Serbia defender is going to have medical at West Brom’s training ground and Slaven Bilic stated: It’s extremely close. Ideally it will be done later, surprisingly fast.

Branislav Ivanovic left Chelsea and joined Zenit three and a half years ago, where he won two Russian Cup and Russian league titles. He is anticipated to sign a one-year contract with the Baggies.

West Brom boss also affirmed that he is attempting to sign another midfielder Filip Krovinovic on a permanent deal from Benfica, following the 25-year-old’s season-long loan spell at The Hawthorns last season.
