Deal Agreed: Liverpool finally accept deal for the transfer of experience forward

Premier League outfit, Liverpool have finally agree a deal for the transfer of winger Xherdan Shaqiri who is set to join Lyon.

Shaqiri has been linked with a move out of Liverpool this summer as the Switzerland international is reportedly willing to take up a new challenge.

The 29-year-old has been forced to spend most of the time on the bench with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota ahead of him in Liverpool’s starting XI.

A new report from The Guardian has now claimed that Liverpool will receive £9.5 million from Lyon for the sale of the Swiss international.

The report added that Shaqiri has been given permission to undergo a medical with the Ligue 1 club.

Shaqiri joined Liverpool from Stoke City in
2018 for a transfer fee of €14.70 million.

He has been a reliable backup for the reds ever since then scoring eight goals and registering nine assists in 63 appearances for the club’s first-team.

Shaqiri played a role in Liverpool’s Champions League victory in 2019 and also the clubs Premier League title in 2020.

He will be eager to revive his career at Lyon where he will be given more of an opportunity to play regular senior football.
