Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Rennes shot-stopper Edouard Mendy, as indicated by the player’s agent.

Frank Lampard has been interested for the Blues to sign another goalkeeper to challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga following the Spaniard’s poor form last season.

Chelsea have held broad talks with Rennes over a deal for Edouard Mendy, with the French club mentioning Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud as part of the deal.

In any case, as indicated by Edouard Mendy’s agent, Djily Dieng, a £20.1m deal has now been agreed between the two clubs.

Edouard Mendy is currently due to travel to London to go through a medical with Chelsea and put the final details on his move to Stamford Bridge.

The two clubs have come to an arrangement, Dieng disclosed to Senegalese newspaper Stades.

Edouard Mendy trained with Rennes on Thursday ahead of Ligue 1 clash with Monaco at home on Saturday.
