One of Chelsea’s new summer signings  Gabriel Slonina, in a recent statement has opened up about his move to the west London side.

Slonina revealed that Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner played a role in his career as he helped him with advice when he experienced a dip in form this summer.

Slonina, who was one of the nine players Chelsea signed during the summer transfer window, joined the Blues from the Chicago Fire, where he returned on loan to complete their season before moving to Stamford Bridge at the start of 2023.

“He [Turner] just told me that even when he was young, he made a lot of mistakes. And I am going to make mistakes young in my career and they are going to be highlighted because a lot of the time, it’s sad to say, but a lot of people look for mistakes to have something to talk about,” Slonina told The Call-Up, an in-house podcast from the MLS.

“He just told me to keep going and trust in the path, keep working every single day and you will find that form again. He was a big help.”
