Chelsea are in the race to sign a new defender this summer and one of the many names they have been linked to is Sevilla star Jules Kounde.

The Blues have been linked with moves for Kounde in the past windows but are more determined to sign him now as they bid many of their defenders goodbye this summer.

To solve the issues that could arise at the back next season, the twenty-three-year-old Kounde could be one of the solutions at Stamford Bridge.

However, a latest statement by popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via Barca Times, revealed that Sevilla are asking for €55million (£47million) to €65million (£56million) to let him leave this summer.

The report added that Spanish club Barcelona also hold ‘serious’ interest in landing the Frenchman this summer.

While this is a threat for the Blues, they are still believed to be leading the race to sign Kounde in the summer transfer window.

Kounde’s current deal with Sevilla doesn’t expire until 2024. His 32 La Liga appearances has put him in the spotlight and also earned him a regular place in the France senior squad.
