Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly has sacked the club’s long-serving head physiotherapist, Thierry Laurent.

Laurent has been with the Blues’ senior players since 2005 after which he got a promotion to Chelsea’s head physio role in 2014.

During his seventeen years of service at Stamford Bridge, Laurent was a key part behind the scenes in Champions League and Premier League title wins.

The Daily Mail reported that Laurent was sacked during the international break and was only notified of his sack in a ‘short zoom call’ on Tuesday.

Laurent’s sack comes after medical director, Dr Paco Biosca also left Stamford Bridge after 11 years.

Another report via the Athletic claimed that Laurent was ‘shocked’ by the news of his sudden sack during the zoom call where he was told the club’s new owners wanted to bring their own person in.

Laurent is the latest to leave Chelsea and has joined the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Marina Granovskaia, Bruce Buck and Petr Cech, who all left in recent months.
