Chelsea Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is set to sign a one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge as he hopes to continue his good form with the club.

Thiago Silva who was surplus to requirement at Paris Saint-Germain joined Chelsea on a free transfer last summer and has been able to defy all odds with his performance.

The Brazilian has become an important player in the Chelsea set-up and despite suffering from injury problems, Thiago Silva has shown he’s lost little of his quality.

Thiago Silva formed a good relationship with Kurt Zouma under Frank Lampard earlier in the season and this has continued under Thomas Tuchel where he’s been partnering with Antonio Rudiger.

His performance and loyalty under Thomas Tuchel have now impressed the Chelsea board who are willing the have him around for at least another season.

Thiago Silva’s contract with Chelsea in the summer had a 12-month extension option in it but both sides need to agree for it to be activated.

According to a new report from Le10Sport,
Silva believes he has more to give in west London and he has agreed to extend his deal, meaning he will stay at Chelsea until he’s at least 37.
