Chelsea captain and defender Cesar Azpilicueta is the latest player to leave the club this summer.

This comes as the Spanish star completed a move to La Liga club Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

Azpilicueta in an emotional farewell to Chelsea fans after an 11-year stay at Stamford Bridge revealed that winning the UEFA Champions League trophy was the highest moment of his career at Stamford Bridge

“I think it would be pretty obvious to pick the highest moment of my career when we won the Champions League in Porto. That moment when we were champions of Europe,” Azpilicueta said in a clip on Chelsea’s official Twitter handle.

“My first trophy as captain, more than that the moment after with my family and with a lot of people that worked so hard to be able to be there.”

The defender also expressed how difficult it was for him to use words to share what he felt as he departed Chelsea.

“The relationship will stay forever and hopefully one day I can come back and say a proper goodbye,” Azpilicueta said.
