Chelsea told to sign this Wolves player to solve midfield challenge

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has reacted to the issues the Blues are having in their midfield as most of their midfielders are not completely fit.

Merson, in his statement, urged the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel to sign Wolves star Ruben Neves to solve his challenges in the Blues midfield.

This comes ahead of Chelsea game vs Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.

Merson stressed that Neves is the kind of player Tuchel needs.

“I think Chelsea are missing Neves,” Merson said on Soccer Saturday.

“I think they are missing a player who can spray the ball round the pitch.

“[Mateo] Kovacic likes taking players on, Jorginho won’t kick the ball further than 10 yards, just keeps it going, [N’Golo] Kante’s an all-around-the-pitch kind of player.

They have got no one who sprays the ball around, like a [James] Ward-Prowse or a Neves.

“The amount of times the other night when they made runs, the front three, where they ran and then they spun, and no one’s hitting them, no one’s hitting them.

“That’s the problem for me, Chelsea need someone who’s spraying the ball about.

“Kante’s not going to hit that ball.”
