Chelsea to put 5 players up for sale in January

Ahead of the January transfer window, the UK Telegraph in a report revealed Chelsea are planning a one-in-one-out transfer policy.

This plan is to avoid a repeat of the issues that eventually cost former manager Graham Potter his job at Stamford Bridge.

During Potter’s time at Chelsea at the start of this year, the Blues made six signings during the winter window.

Jorginho was the only one who left the first-team squad as he joined Arsenal.

This led to a bloated squad, with big-name players regularly omitted from matchday squads.

There were also reports of players having to get dressed in corridors at the training ground because the dressing rooms were too small.

In a bid to avoid the same fate falling on Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are planning to tighten up their transfer strategy this time around.

Centre-backs Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah are reportedly up for sale, as is Ian Maatsen, the left-back who turned down a move to newly promoted Burnley during the summer.

Armando Broja and Noni Madueke may also have to move elsewhere.
