Chelsea to look elsewhere as Bayern Munich officially announce Dayot Upamecano signing from RB Leipzig

Although the January transfer window is over, some clubs are still making some finishing on players that could join them in the summer.

The latest player to get a new contract from  a new club is Dayot Upamecano who Bayern Munich signed from RB Leipzig.

According to the latest report, the deal has been sealed and Upamecano is officially now a Bayern Munich player.

However, according to the reports, the experienced defender will officially move to the Allianz Arena on July 1.

The reports revealed that he agreed to a five-year contract with Bayern Munich which means hr would remain there until 2026. The German champions are to pay €42.5m for his release clause.

With the look of things, Chelsea and other clubs who were interested in him have lost the race to sign him and will have to look elsewhere.

Another report has revealed that Chelsea are still in the race for a new defender and are now said to be targeting Upamecano’s defensive partner at Leipzig, Ibrahima Konaté instead.

The Blues have also been linked with Niklas Süle, who may have to leave Bayern upon Upamecano’s arrival in July. Another target id David Alaba who they hope to sign as a replacement for Silva.
