In the last hours of the summer window, Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow in their race to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

The report revealed that Gvardiol has signed a new deal with Leipzig, which would see him remain at the club till 2027.

This latest development comes after a €90million bid from Chelsea was rejected on Wednesday.

With the summer transfer window closing today, the Blues may have to wait till January 2023 to complete an agreement for Gvardiol if they would still be interested in him.

This was also confirmed by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.

Romano said: “Official. Josko Gvardiol extends his contract with RB Leipzig until June 2027 — as Chelsea’s €90m bid has been turned down yesterday.

“No time to complete the agreement.

“Talks for Gvardiol to Chelsea/2023 will continue in January.”

Chelsea are in a last minute rush to welcome some new players following their less impressive performance so far this season.
