Chelsea striker hoping for departure from the club

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has been linked with moves away from the club as he wants to return to the Italian Seria side Inter Milan barely a year after he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku re-joined the Blues from Inter in a deal worth £97.5m last summer but has not been impressive for the club.

The Belgian striker finished the season as Chelsea’s top goalscorer with 14 goals across all competitions, but more was expected of him as a striker.

In December, Lukaku publicly revealed his wish to return to Italy, a statement which stirred reactions and saw Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel drop him from the starting 11 in the following matches.

According to Tuttomrcato, AC Milan and Juventus are interested in the 29-year-old striker, but Italian tax rules are will make it hard for the deal to happen.

If they decide to bring him on a loan deal, Lukaku would reportedly be ready to accept a significant wage cut on his current £275,000-per-week salary, as Serie A sides would not be eligible to use the growth decree tax option, due to Lukaku’s short time away from the country.

While at San Siro, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances and won the Italian title with Inter Milan.
