Chelsea star told to learn from Lingard

Former Newcastle United star, Darren Ambrose has sent advice to Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher in regards to his future.

Ambrose urged Gallagher to pick lessons from Jesse Lingard’s mistakes in terms of the club he wants to for this season.

Gallagher played for Crystal Palace on loan last season, where he gave some impressive form that saw him earn a call-up to the national team.

The Blues midfielder’s impressive term at Crystal Palace was similar to that of Lingard‘s successful loan spell at West Ham in 2021.

But Lingard made a return to Old Trafford, which turn out to be a mistake for him.

According to Ambrose, Lingard’s unsuccessful return to Manchester United should be a warning to Gallagher.

“I keep going back to the Jesse Lingard situation – learn from his mistakes because I think it was a mistake going back to Manchester United,” Ambrose, who also played for Crystal Palace, told talkSPORT.

“Gallagher has to go somewhere he is going to play…

“There’s an opportunity that if he stays at Chelsea and plays half the games, he could still play for England.

“But if he goes to Everton or Palace and plays all the games, it’s not really about the club anymore.”
