West Brom forward Charlie Austin who is currently on loan at QPR has insisted that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount will miss out of Gareth Southgate’s European Championship list.

Mason Mount has been having a wonderful season at Chelsea ever since he broke out under Frank Lampard and he does not look like a player that’s ready to slow down.

However, Charlie Austin while speaking with
talkSPORT Breakfast host Laura Woods believes the young midfielder will not be picked ahead of Phil Foden, James Maddison and Jack Grealish.

When answering his question about those that should be picked, Austin stated that it’s a tough question as he saw James Maddison play against Fulham last week and he was the best person on the pitch by a country mile.

According to Austin, Maddison, for 45 minutes ran Fulham ragged with two assists and he believes the Leicester midfielder was first class.

He added that he will be trying to get three of the four in Maddison, Grealish and Foden as he’s leaving Mount out.

When asked why he’s leaving Mount out, Austin responded that when you realise how important Maddison is for Leicester, how important Grealish is for Aston Villa.

It’s a tough call, and he thinks there’s going to be a situation not with the No.10s but he believes you’ve almost got to sacrifice a position of a No.9.

Mason Mount will be eager to impress Gareth Southgate with his performance as England are blessed with top players.
