Chelsea have agreed a deal with Inter Milan to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer transfer window but he might miss Saturday’s Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.

Romelu Lukaku is set to join his former club for a fee of £97.5m after an impressive two season at Inter Milan.

Though the offer was accepted by Inter Milan last Saturday, Chelsea has faced several small roadblocks with the Blues still yet to confirm the signing of the 28-year-old.

Lukaku was set to make his debut for Chelsea against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup but he missed the game.

The Belgium international has now been ruled out of the running for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Palace on Saturday (3pm), The Athletic reports.

According to the report, Lukaku who just arrived in England is expected to quarantine until Monday, when he will then be free to train with his new team mates.

Lukaku will now be expected to make his debut next weekend (Sunday August 22) when Chelsea travel to their London rivals, Arsenal.

The Belgium international will be eager to kick the ground running against an Arsenal that strengthen their backline with the signature of Ben White.
