Chelsea are poised to finalize their sixth summer transfer, having agreed to a £14 million fee with Boca Juniors for 19-year-old defender Aaron Anselmino.

Anselmino has agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and is awaiting final approvals before undergoing his medical.

He is expected to sign a six-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2030. Boca Juniors, however, want to retain him on loan until January, despite interest from Strasbourg for an immediate loan move.

Anselmino, primarily a center-back with the ability to play in defensive midfield, is highly regarded in Argentina.

He made his professional debut in June 2023 and has since made ten first-team appearances, scoring his first goal in April.

Boca Juniors’ president, Juan Roman Riquelme, praised Anselmino’s potential, stating, “With his growth, mindset, and desire to learn, he is on his way to becoming a great footballer.

He is going to be a player for the national team and will compete with the best center-backs.”

Given his limited first-team experience, Anselmino is seen as a future asset rather than an immediate starter for Chelsea.

This signing aligns with Chelsea’s strategy of investing in young talent with significant potential.

Anselmino joins a busy summer transfer window for Chelsea.

The club previously secured Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer, Estevao Willian from Palmeiras for up to £48 million (joining in 2025), Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa for £19 million, and Marc Guiu from Barcelona for £5 million. Most recently, Chelsea signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City for £30 million on a five-year deal.
