Chelsea return for Wahi after being snubbed last summer
Chelsea are keen on making some new additions to their attack this summer transfer window and a report has claimed that they have resurrected interest in a former target.
A report via the L’Equipe disclosed that Chelsea are interested in signing French forward Elye Wahi from Ligue 1 side Lens.
Recall that Wahi had snubbed the West London club last summer after exiting Montpellier to stay in France for £29m.
However, there are speculations he could be willing to move this time around and Chelsea are reportedly back in the race for him.
Last season, the striker scored nine goals and created three assists for Lens, to add to the 19 he scored for Montpellier a year earlier.
His goal record in 2022-23 was more than Lionel Messi registered goald for Paris Saint-Germain in the same season.
Despite this Wahi has been described as a calculated risk by Chelsea which means he is a prospect with potential but without the large transfer fee that comes with a proven player.
Chelsea have been linked with moves Napoli star Victor Osimhen but his release clause has hold them back so far.
With Osimhen likely to move to PSG who want him as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, the Blues may have to look elsewhere for another striker.
