Chelsea reportedly working to extend Silva’s contract

The latest report has revealed that Chelsea is planning to sign a new contract with Thiago Silva as they hope to keep him at the club for at least another season.

Silva has been an instrumental player at the back for Chelsea this season since joining them from Paris Saint Germain PSG.

He has also helped the Blues improve their defence as they have return to the top four on the Premier League table and also still in the Uefa Champions League.

With this, it would be a bad idea to let Silva leave  Stamford Bridge without a replacement.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are working on extending Silva’s contract.

According to Romano, who posted an update on his official Twitter account, Thomas Tuchel’s side are “working” to extend the centre-back’s contract, with a final decision due “in the coming days/weeks”.

So far this season, Silva has made 17 Premier League appearances and he has scored twice, however, he has not been involved in the top flight since the start of February due to a thigh problem.

If an agreement is reached, it is uncertain if Chelsea will carry on to sign David Alaba from Bayern Munich in the coming summer transfer window.
