Chelsea reportedly ready to pay €50 million for this Barcelona youngster

A recent report has claimed that Chelsea are willing to fork out the sum of €50 million to sign Gavi from Barcelona.

According to a report from Catalan publication El Nacional, it claims the Blues have their eyes on the Barcelona prodigy and are ready to meet his transfer demands.

Gavi, 17, is a product of Barcelona Academy who joined them from Real Betis in 2015.

He made it to the limelight during the pre-season this past summer and has become a part of the first team at Camp Nou. 

Gavi made his debut in August and has become a regular at the midfield for Barcelona.

To date, the young midfielder has made 14 appearances across all competitions for the Catalans.

He also made it to the Spanish national team and was impressive during their UEFA Nations League fixtures last month.

His performance has been noticed by top clubs like Chelsea, who although have the likes N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek at their disposal, along with on-loan midfielder Saul Niguez.

It, however, looks like Chelsea are planning for the future with the like of Kante and Jorginho not getting any younger.

While Gavi’s contract will lapse in 2023, Barcelona are determine to keep him at the club and are ready to hand him a new contract deal.
