Chelsea are reportedly ready to let their striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave for free at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal star has failed to impress on his second return to the Premier League with Chelsea after joining them from Spanish club Barcelona.

Recall that Chelsea signed Aubameyang to work under ex-Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel.

Unfortunately for Aubameyang, barely weeks after he arrived at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was sacked and the Gabonese failed to make the squad during Graham Potter’s short-lived spell in charge.

The Gabon International was also removed from Chelsea’s UCL squad and only recently got game chances under interim manager Frank Lampard, who replaced Potter.

While Aubameyang’s deal doesn’t end until 2024, Chelsea are not ready to keep him till then as they are working on trimming down their squad ahead of next season.

Aubameyang has been linked with a return to Italian club AC Milan, whom he represented between 2008 and 2012. He has also been linked to MLS side Los Angeles FC.

However, the Catalans have been the most strongly linked with a move for their former striker.

With Chelsea ready to let Aubameyang leave for nothing, Barcelona may be willing to take him back.
