The reports have revealed a number of Chelsea players were “shocked” to discover they didn’t even make it to the substitutes’ bench for the Blues’ game vs Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday.

Chelsea suffered a third straight defeat in north London last weekend thanks to goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane, which left the Blues closer to the relegation zone.

Due to the number of players now available at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea boss Graham Potter was forced to leave several senior first-team hopefuls out of the game altogether.

The affected players included Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka and David Datro Fofana, all of which Potter said were “unfortunate” to be left out.

More than one of those players was “shocked” to find out they would not even be on the substitutes’ bench, as reported by the Telegraph.

Hopefully, some of them would return when the Blues take on Leeds United this weekend.
