Chelsea are likely to welcome two new midfielders to their squad before the summer window closes.

This comes as the recent report via UK Sun revealed the Blues are on the verge of completing a £55 million deal with Southampton for midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Liverpool are also interested in the 19-year-old star, with the Reds having three bids rejected for him by Southampton.

The Saints have refused to budge on their £50m price tag and are looking forward to reaching an agreement with Chelsea.

It is believed that Chelsea submitted an offer above Southampton’s valuation.

With Chelsea and Liverpool are trying to improve their midfields, the two clubs are also locked in a transfer war for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

It is believed that Chelsea’s £111m pursuit of Caicedo won’t be hampered by dealings with Brighton for the Ecuadorian.

A £55m deal would see Southampton cash-in on Lavia who is keen to secure an immediate transfer back to the Premier League after being relegated last season.
