Chelsea monitoring Bayern Munich star

Chelsea have been linked with moves for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski ahead of the summer transfer window.

This comes after the Polish striker on Saturday confirmed plans to leave Allianz Arena would this summer, disclosing that he doesn’t intend to extend his contract by penning a new deal with the German club.

While the club officials have played down the chances of the striker being allowed to move to another club, they are much more interested in whether they will find a suitable replacement.

Spanish side Barcelona are the favourites to sign Lewandowski, with reports claiming they are ready to hand him a 3-year deal if he agrees to move over to Spain.

However, a report via The Guardian revealed that Chelsea may involve themselves in the race for the player if the Catalans are unable to meet Bayern’s asking price, which is currently undetermined.

But the Blues would only make a move for Lewandowski if they are able to sell one of Romelu Lukaku or Timo Werner, both of whom have struggled to impress this season.

To achieve this, the takeover of Chelsea must be completed as soon as possible.
