Chelsea midfielder tipped to leave in January

Popular football Journalist, Tom Barclay has hinted that Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher could leave the club for Crystal Palace in the January transfer window.

Barclay in his statement added it wouldn’t come as a surprise to him if Gallagher leaves Chelsea in 2023.

Gallagher was at Crystal Palace on loan last season, where he made 34 Premier League appearances, scoring eight goals and creating three assists.

However, since returning to Chelsea in the summer, Gallagher has lacked the regular game time and this saw him being left out of the England squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against Italy and Germany, while the likes of Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling were all invited.

Speaking on Gallagher’s future, Barclay told GiveMeSport: “I wouldn’t be surprised that come January, we are not even talking about this as a possible transfer because he’s become a big part of Graham Potter’s plans.”

He added: “But obviously, if that doesn’t prove to be the case and he is out of the picture, then a player of that quality, particularly being an England international, if he became available, then you’d be pretty certain that Palace would be interested.”
