Chelsea midfielder revealed dream of playing for Man City

Chelsea midfielder and Italian international Jorginho, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Napoli after the arrival of former manager Maurizio Sarri in 2018, has revealed in a recent statement that his dream was to play for Man City.

As of 2018, the Italian midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester City before he switched to Chelsea, where he has since become a key player.

Jorginho has, however, stated that he would like to play under coach Pep Guardiola at some stage of his career as he revealed that he enjoyed watching Barcelona over a decade ago when he was incharge when the likes of Xavi, Andreas Iniesta and Ronaldinho, where under his management.

Speaking in a YouTube interview with Ale Oliveira, Jorginho said: “I wasn’t supposed to come to Chelsea. I was supposed to have arrived at another club. Another English club. And then it happened as it happened and I arrived at Chelsea.

“So with Chelsea everything happened very fast. When I saw their offer, I was already in London and I said, ‘Let’s go.’

“Have I ever dreamed of playing under Guardiola? I have. I don’t know if it will happen. But yeah, he’s a reference.

“When I was a kid, I watched his Barcelona win everything with Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta.”

Since arriving at Chelsea, Jorginho has made 173 appearances across all competitions.

And his impressive performance for the Blues and Italy last season got him a nomination for the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
