Chelsea are said to be monitoring Man Utd and Frenkie de Jong this summer as they wait to see if the Red Devils will drop their interest in him.

According to the report, Chelsea could join the race for Frenkie this summer but this may depend on if Man Utd lose interest.

According to The Guardian, Man United are in talks with the Barcelona individual about personal terms after agreeing to a €65million (£56.2million) fee to sign him.

The report added that Chelsea are actually monitoring the central midfielder’s situation in case a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United breaks down.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be a big admirer of the Netherlands international.

The only advantage the Blues have ahead of Man Utd is that the midfielder would be able to play Champions League football next season if he moves to Stamford Bridge.

De Ligt is an extremely technical midfielder who made it to the spotlight over his impressive spell at Ajax.

He, however, didn’t get the same form during his three-year spell in a Barcelona shirt.
