Chelsea Make Final Decision on Defender as Surprise Serie A Move Edges Closer

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to sanction the departure of Trevoh Chalobah this summer, with Serie A side Como emerging as the leading contenders for the defender’s signature.

Despite playing a key role for the Blues last season, Chalobah’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge appears increasingly uncertain. The 26-year-old featured 47 times in all competitions and established himself as Chelsea’s first-choice centre-back during Levi Colwill’s lengthy absence through an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

His impressive performances earned him a late call-up to England’s World Cup squad after Valentino Livramento withdrew through injury, highlighting how far his stock has risen over the past year.

However, reports suggest Chelsea are now willing to listen to offers, opening the door for a permanent exit. Italian club Como are believed to be leading the race, with manager Cesc Fàbregas identifying Chalobah as one of his priority targets as the club prepares for its first-ever Champions League campaign.

A move would mark the end of a long and often uncertain chapter for the academy graduate. Chalobah was previously included in Chelsea’s so-called “Bomb Squad” during the 2023 and 2024 transfer windows, when the club attempted to reshape its squad, yet he fought his way back into the first team and became one of their most reliable defenders.

While negotiations are still ongoing, Chelsea’s willingness to approve a transfer represents a significant shift given Chalobah’s importance last season. If Como can agree terms with both the player and Chelsea, the defender could soon embark on a new challenge in Serie A after spending his entire professional career with the Blues.
