Ahead of the January transfer window a few days from now, a report has claimed that Chelsea have been liked with moves for a new defender.

The reports revealed the defender to be AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, who is considered a potential transfer target for the Blues.

As far as the winter and summer transfer windows are concerned, Chelsea could see some of their critical defenders like Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso, among others, depart the club.

There are also doubts over whether Ben Chilwell will require surgery on an ACL injury, which means Chelsea will have to consider alternatives for the English left wing-back.

According to El Nacional, the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of Hernandez, who has had a terrific spell at San Siro.

The French defender has made 19 appearances in all competitions thos season for AC Milan, with five assists coming from his 14 outings in Italian Seria A.

It is, however, unlikely that AC Milan will let Hernandez leave at a time they hope to at least finish in the top flight Seria A.

This is because AC Milan’s failure to secure European football will have an effect on their finances.

However, the report claimed that Milan might accept an offer in the region of €40m (£33.94m) in January.
