Chelsea defender, Marcos Alonso who was close to leaving the club in the January transfer window seems to have had a change of mind.

This is coming as a latest report revealed the Spaniard wants a new contract with Chelsea.

Alonso had limited playing chances under former coach, Frank Lampard, who preferred to start Ben Chilwell ahead of him.

However, since the sack of Lampard at Stamford Bridge, things have turned around for Alonso and he has become a key player under the new manager, Thomas Tuchel.

So far Alonso has played in 5 games of 6 matches under Tuchel and has also become a key player in the team.

With all of these in place, the 30-year-old is hoping Chelsea will give him a new contract.

According to The Sun, Alonso is keen to pen a new deal with the London giants as he appears to be an important part of the new manager’s plans moving forward.
